The djembe drum is one of the most famous African drums. It originated in West Africa. The djembe drum is believed to have been invented in the 12th century by the Malinke tribe in what is now Mali, West Africa. Djembés are traditionally made of wood and metal and goatskin and played with bare hands.
The djembé drum has a light and fiery sound. The fingers and palms are used to play the drum. Its voice is very versatile and can produce a number of different sounds: bass, tone and slap.
The djembé drum is made of a hollowed wooden body and looks somewhat like a chalice. Its particular shape contributes to its unique sound, both the skin and stringing.
Each drum has its own personal sound, it can sound suitable for a solo voice or yet better as an accompanying instrument. Come and choose your personal Djembé in our store. Whether a child's drum or a beginner's model up to a master class djembé, we have everything in stock and can advise you professionally.
We also carry matching bags, instruction books etc.
