The lunar node: The duration of one orbit of the lunar node through the ecliptic is about 18.6 years. The lunar nodes are the intersections of the moon's orbit with the ecliptic. When the moon crosses the ecliptic from south to north, it passes the ascending lunar node, also known as the dragon's head. When it crosses the ecliptic from north to south, it passes the descending lunar node, also known as the dragon's tail.
