BeschreibungLike the therapy monochords, the sound chair lounger is a body sound instrument. It is mainly used therapeutically. One person lies or sits on the instrument and another plays. The lying surface or backrest is slightly curved inwards, which increases the lying and sitting comfort and gives you the feeling of being completely enveloped by the sound.
The special feature of the sound chair lounger is that it is a double instrument. It can be set up either as a sound chair or as a sound lounger. The various components can be assembled in different ways in just a few simple steps (conversion takes approx. 10 minutes).
As a third variant, the instrument can also be set up with the playing level facing upwards and used like a standing monochord.
The effect of the sound chair lounger is similar to that of the therapy monochords, only much more intense, as the whole body can be immersed in the sound.
The resonating body of the instrument is very long, so the fundamental tone is much deeper than with the therapy monochords. The focus of the experience with the sound chair and sound couch is the dissolution of physical boundaries, the detachment from time and space and the experience of complete relaxation. Therefore, this sound makes it possible to penetrate into deep emotional areas, as is the case with sound-guided trance, for example.
If the instrument is set up as a couch, the effect is much more intense simply due to the more relaxed posture when lying down and the greater contact of the body with the instrument.
After a treatment while lying down (lasting between 10-30 minutes), many people still have the feeling of carrying the sound within them hours later.
For some, inner images emerge during the treatment, others have the experience of boundless freedom that opens up beyond thought; still others come into contact with long-forgotten memories, whether pleasant or unpleasant...

The basic tuning of the instrument is A. There are various ways to string the instrument. You can either opt for a pure monochord tuning (contra A and A), a tambura tuning (contra A, A and E) or a chord tuning (contra A, A, E and C sharp).
Dividing the tuning into two halves has proved most successful. One half of the instrument as a monochord and the other half as a tambura with the option of tuning it as a chord. This way you have all possibilities combined.
There is also the option of tuning part of the strings to a higher note with an extra bridge, which can be set up with a flick of the wrist.
Finally, there is a table extension (40 cm long, 20 cm wide) that can be attached to the side of the instrument and moved to any position. This is suitable for integrating singing bowls into the sound work.
Because the instrument is smaller than a pure sound couch, it can also be transported in a normal car, which can be interesting for therapists who plan to take the instrument with them when traveling.
